Is it just me or is the Killer 1535 WLAN card pure garbage?

I've had nothing but problem with this card, from access point drops to huge lag issues in games. Finally replaced its with the Intel 8260 and even doing that was an ordeal since Dell put an adhesive pad under the Killer WLAN card and it took a bit of coaxing to get that out.

The Intel 8260 WLAN works great.

Looks like the Intel 8260 WLAN is a N/C option for the 15 R2 right now. They ought to make it the default.

Mmm...yea the Killer card has known issues, which is why I always opt for the Intel 8260 card. For the little to free cost of the upgrade, it's well worth going with the Intel card no doubt.

But heck, you'll have those who never have an issue with a Killer card...it all depends.

Intel card all the way though for me...

I still have the Killer WiFi. I had issues when I first got the laptop dropping out, but after a driver update, it's been flawless... it's my main machine and it's always wireless and has been flawless for months now (at least 7 months now) solid and I leave my machine on 24/7 except for update reboots.

    my 2 cents.

My card works fine (Killer Wireless 1535) with previous driver. No issues at all. Laptop has been connected to multiple networks during travel without issues. No drop outs. Sometimes there can be compatiblity issues between your router and card. Simply switching either will resolve the issue, or, going in and specifying a different channel / updating drivers / firmware will help.

I pulled the Killer 1535 that came with my MSI and replaced it with the Intel as well. Never looked back. Really shouldn't have to go through a bunch of troubleshooting steps with a brand new machine.

It really is a hit or a miss eh? I've had Killer in two of my AW's and Intel in the other two AW's. Intel's worked flawlessly, more straight forward, cleaner, no Killer suite messy software. One out of the two AW's that had the Killer had issues. So it's a toss up. Whatever works...but from personal experience I'd choose Intel if someone is wondering which card to buy.

Had a lot of random drops as well on killer card before i updated to a new driver and disabled all the software bloat that came with the card. Also have had issues in the past with the killer wireless on a couple desktop boards as well, though the 1103 I put into my old m17x years ago never had problems. Staying with intel in the future.

Never had a problem with my Killer WiFi. That said, I've only ever run the driver as I don't see the benefit of the suite, especially with all the reported issues.

Most of the problems I have had with the killer cards, were related to the software package. Usually, grabbing the latest release on their website was enough to clean it up. I am currently rocking their beta drivers, and it has been surprisingly solid.

I honestly believe it is potentially a broader problem with the actual newer laptops, sort of like the unspoken faulty AW15/17 mobos that keep frying multiple times (I am on my fourth...) but so far yes my Killer 1535 card was garbage to the point that I had to ask Alienware switch it to the Intel 8260. I used the latest drivers, used fresh installs tried multiple times, did everything I possibly could have done, beta drivers, even went as far as disabling windows 10 from turning off the wifi adapter in device manager power management settings since some people thought that could be the issue. The 1535 was dropping connections nonstop, half the time not even connecting. Now I have had the 8260 for roughly a week or so and it is working 10x better, actually staying connected, but having a few smaller issues I am just chalking up to the internet where I am located while out of town.

Actually it's funny everyone says that, I used to love Intel cards but the 1535 has been really great in terms of performance. IT IS driver dependent though, I use a driver from 2015 but the latest one for my causes high CPU usage and hangs the system a lot.

There is no unspoken issue that AW15/17 mobos are frying. There was a bios issue that prevented the mobos from powering up until you cleared the NVram. If I am remembering correctly you posted this before right? Weren't you the one suspecting the DC in cable is the problem?

I both had Intel and Kille rnetwork cards. I dont knwo what it is but I had issues with both. But currently killer network drivers became better. Not sure how the situation is with Intel cards now but some router x wifi combinations arent great. But the whole gaming network card marketing is bullcrap. Never saw any difference in my network performance with Intel wifi cards and Killer network cards.

the best part.. new alienware swapped to 1435 instead of 1535, I noticed this long back, but everyone thought it was just for sample. but now its finalized.. 1435 Killer. a small downgrade..

I am trying to replace my killer with intel 8260 and for the life of me I am unable to connect the white antenna, I don't know whats happening, may be I have broken the antenna, but now I have only one working antenna the black one, the white simply refuses to click in the wifi card. I just wanted to ask, if i only connect the black cable to the main port, will it give me any issues?

In my experience, the 1535 has been hit or miss. But yes, updating the driver (or reinstalling it several times) usually helps.

uninstall the Killer Suite and then install the drivers manually by going to device manager and your trouble will end:

    Killer WLAN Driver v12.0.0.279/BT v10.0.0.256

You can choose the newer card as well without extra charge. Why both are an option? I have no clue.

No it's Killer. Some months ago I had constant drop of connection on Killer 1525. It happened during havy workload like downloading game from Origin. Then after one of SW update this issue stopped and I had months of stable wifi. Two days ago, on drivers -1 revision older than accutal I have started to recieved drops. Without any action from my side, they begun just without warning... I have installed newest drivers, but still drops. And not during have load, one I got during Overwatch playing... Now I have switched everything in killer suite, clean reinstall and established connection once more. I will check if that helps.

Thinking about switching to intel. But Killer looks to have smaller width and mounting place for screw is not central as in intel card. Also there are less pins in killer. Is Intel 8260 compatible with Alienware 15 R1?

Funny. the 1535 shows up as: "N1435 & N1535 Wireless Drive" in the itemized list.

No, it is not just you, it is everyone who has that card, can confirm! I just got my Aorus x5 v6 3 days back and the killer 1535 in it is terrible. All my other devices get the full speed of 30 Mbps from my wifi while my laptop gets around 100-500 Kbps and sometimes disconnects. I was waiting for a month to finally play some games on the GTX 1070 and this ****ty crap card totally pissed me off, unable to download anything.

I just ordered an intel 8265 card which is also the same m.2 form factor. Actually i do not know whether the board will accept the card. Anyway i'll update on it once it swap the cards.

i jave the killer 1535 card, never really had troubles with it, but tbh if you're gaming you'll be better off with an ethernet cable regardless of how good you wireless card is.

I've had several killer 1103 and two killer 1535, and all of them except one 1103 dropped connections under heavy load and often lag spiked? Intel cards are near perfect. I stick with Intel from here on out, or non-killer branded atheros cards.

Odd, my killer with default drivers out of the box hasn't had any problems. Still get my 30 megabytes a second in places that let you go that fast. Usually I don't install any drivers after format and let Windows use the default and it works fine. But maybe I'm in the minority.

Ever since I got rid of the Killer Suite software it seems the random disconnections had stopped
