The last few updates haven't fixed it as yet, I would not think they have fixed it with the latest update.
No harm in trying though, you can always roll back the bios and repair it.

I don't have the laptop anymore - once I fixed mine, I was done with Alienware and Dell

Continuing a forced shutdown will not be good for any PC or Laptop. Dell have clearly wiped their hands with any responsibility on the whole affair though

My 17R3 just died this morning with a literal poof of smoke rising from the Mobo/chassis. Good riddance Alienware!

I'm becoming scared of mine as well. Indeed I need to buy a Thinkpad Ryzen.

Hello Mofoist, new to the forum. I saw your reply on my post in the Dell forum about my bricked 17 r3. I am just now working through the steps.... Ive been busy and left the paperweight in its box for a while. I got the programmer and jaws of life in the mail, but having a few troubles with some of the links. Likely from the extended wait period, however I am in over my head ever since I started trying to repair this thing as no one yet has been successful. The links referenced are these two: The Intel CSME System Tools v11 r18 .rar and, The ME analyser. I am happy to see you guys have found the solution and are helping others fix their machines, I hope it isn't too late for me.
    Thank you.
