    Welcome back.

Considering the issues with the 6820HK and Alienware 15, I'd say you probably overpaid... But, assuming it works flawlessly, compared to other laptops in the same segment, that's a good deal. I had similar specifications, except with a 256GB SSD (for $2071~), and decided to cancel it after seeing people reporting 100C on the CPU during gaming with variations in core temps up to 15C. That's absolutely ridiculous.

Good call on the extended warranty and good luck.

    Thanks!

So, without the warranties The laptop would have cost me $1,620.60 with tax, but I remember the bs with my m17xr1 then my r2. So I knew that the warranty is a must for Dell. I was thinking of going for the 17, but I really didn't want to have to carry around another laptop that big again. Is there a "fix" for the thermal throttling issues of the 6820? Maybe I should have just gone for the 2 year warranties instead of the 4 year, but they had pay the 3 and 4 year at the same price.

That configuration is a steal for $2,277.83. Go for it.

BTW, how did you get such a great configuration for $2,277.83? I am getting the same thing for around $3000. Are you using any coupons? If it's the case, would you mind sharing it?

    Cheers,

A fix? Don't believe so. It's a defect with the product. But re-pasting, with some good thermal compound, seems to prevent throttling.
