Hello. I was wondering if someone can help me out, please.

    I have the M15x R3 with the 4k screen Model: SHP1450

But due to FPS drops when gaming, I wanted to replace my 4k screen with a regular 1080p 60hz screen? Can I get purchase this screen and do it myself?

This is the one I'm looking at

    https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/Dell/ALIENWARE+15+R3/?hash=372650

    Would this work?

    Thanks!

Why not buy an external 120 hz screen for gaming, then you coukd still have your 4k screen for everything else...unless you game away from home alot i guess. I saw a thread on how to replace AW 17 4R screens that might be helpful, it is probably pretty similar

I guess that is easier then set resolution to 1920*1080...or not?

This. I am guessing the hardcore gamers might find some kind of lag/latency introduced with this type of setup, but if the Op is in that league, then maybe they should consider a new laptop with a 120Hz screen built in to begin with.

    240Hz 8K HDR 1000 or don't bother at all ;)

Make sure the new screen has same size and connector type as your old one. Then your should be good to go.

In the R3 the screenlid is different for the UHD version.
