    Hi guys and gals!

I just got a nice 144hz monitor for my birthday, but cant get it to run att 144hz.
And cant find any way to set my 980m card to run at 144hz, all i can see is that DAMN optimus crap :(

I use mini DP to dual DVI cable so i suppose that should work right?

Any kind of support is greatly appreciated.

P.s Maby the prema mod fixes this?

are u using the regular DP to DVI? if thats the case then you found your problem.
    you need a
Mini Display Port to Dvi Dual-Link Active Usb Powered Adapter

    not the regular one

setting up to 144 can be done via NV control panel or your regular screen resolution option.

    happy gaming

Thanks alot for the answer! I don´t know if it is a active cable i got, but doubt it.

I will buy a active mini DP to DP instead of Dual dvi.
Or maby all mini DP to DP already is "active?"

How ever in my nvidia controlpanel i only have 3 options to choose from. ( See screenshoot)

Will a active cable open up for more options in the controllpanel?

May i ask what alienware ur using? Are you the one who installed 980m or is it already installed when you bought the laptop? What driver are you using and have you tried re-installing it? Because your control panel should have more options than that and about your cable it doesnt need to be dp to dp a dual dvi to dp would work as long as its active which is the inportant part you kinda need it powered via usb to unlocked the 144,120 hz for external monitors and it does work since i my self is using benq xl2411z and a samsung 60hz monitors

The HDMI and all display ports (eDP, Thunderbolt 3, mini DP) are connected to the iGPU. None are connected to the discrete GPU as the laptop strictly uses Optimus (or Enduro if you have an AMD GPU).
Getting a modified a vBIOS won't fix this, and the iGPU (at least for the HD 4600) doesn't support Dual Link DVI.
