July 2017 was the last time i had my laptop repasted/serviced by a technician and now its june of 2018 and temps increase by 10c. I think the fans are blocked again by dust so i am having my laptop serviced next week. Already called the hotline and they are sending me new heatsinks and fan. TBH i just want the technician to come and open the thing up(as its a PITA to open up) and swap the fans out and maybe i can repaste with new gelid extreme i got from amazon.

Depends on the model, but unless I am wanting to overclock my system I generally do it every 6-12 months

Depending on the notebook you could easily do it yourself. Also depending on usage, if everyday gaming is a thing I'd say ~4-6months.

    It's so simple.

Clearing out the vents and fans brought down the temps considerably.

Every time you whip out or see a vacum cleaner working, just suck the vents both ways (with the vacum cleaner of course). It helps a lot if you are not opening it up every 6 months.

Using a vacuum cleaner isnt very advisable as its a good way to generate static and kill the laptop.

Is there any real risk behind it? I have used vacum cleaner good 10+ years even when I have opened up my laptops to clean the heatsink fins. I have grounded myself and every component I touched with vacum brushes.
I think drinking near laptop is way riskier.

But use common sense when using risky methods.

Anti-static vacuums are a thing for a reason, static kills electronics and vacuum cleaners will generate plenty of that.

Common sense is to not be lazy with expensive electronics, but thats just me.
