    Hi all new owner of a Alienware R2 echo signature edition!

    Ok so I scored this 15 r2 echo signature edition 4k touchscreen laptop on newegg for 949 NEW in sealed box, I know its last years model but I saved 1400 dollars. Anyhow this is my first post so I am a noob sort of, but I'm stumped as to why my laptop isn't showing anymore windows updates through settings and I am at version 1511 and it says I'm up to date. This was achieved by going the normal route of settings and checking for updates. But every since I first powered this laptop on it has in the far left top corner a windows 10 upgrade assistant app there and I opened it up and it says I am way behind?! Which one should I trust, and thanks for any help, and mods if this is the wrong section I am sorry please direct me. Thanks

    Yes W10 version is a little older. Latest is 1703 which is buggy. I recommend you upgrade or clean install to Anniversary edition which v1607 or 14393.x

    How would i go about selecting that specific version and how do i perform a clean install? Thanks for your help.

    So if i stay on 1511 as is and it says i am up to date, will it eventually ask me to update to 1703 or am i on the final release? Everything so far has worked fine on 1511 and this was a signiture model from microsoft so it has no bloat.

    If you're happy, then stick with it. Eventually your OS is supported until 2020 w/ security updates.

    Ok because my asus xl555 is the new 1703 and it just keeps updating with the latest and it wont allow you to access the store apps if i turn off updates to windows by making my connection metered, but this older firmware doesnt do that. And i like that i hate constantly updating.

    Disable Feature upgrade in Windows Update Advanced Options

    I cant do it on either laptop because that option is only available on windows 10 pro, both of mine are home. It doesnt have the option.

    On my alienware when i click advanced options it only has choose how updates are installed, and get insider preview builds.
