I just got an 15 R3 with a GTX 1070 in it. I have a 4K TV and my laptop is hooked up to it through HDMI. Every game I've tried the max resolution setting is 1080p. Anything I'm doing wrong? All drivers are updated.

Not need gold plated. Doesnt do a thing for digital stuff. But it needs the bandwidth of hdmi 2.0.

Well, I thought Gold plated things doesn't get rusted. I really need them because my house has lot of moisture and things rust very fast.
