Has anyone changed the fan in the Graphics Amplifier?

I love using the Graphics Amp but I have to admit that it is loud as hell. Has anyone here modded it to add a much quieter fan? The card I'm using (Asus Strixx 970) fans don't even come on until it hits a certain temp so is it safe to just disconnect the front fan and let the GPU cool itself when needed or is that a bad idea?

You can disconnect the front fan and be fine. I do know someone the Dell forums who replaced the front fan in the GA with a different fan, but it wasn't a simple swap.

Thanks. I may just disconnect the fan and keep an eye on my temps.

If it uses a standard header you could use your own little fan controller.

If you do that, I recommend you to check on the temperatures all the time.

Can someone post a picture of said fan and possibly the wiring to it?

Most likely you can cut the wires and crimp on your own fan (could even wire it up with the proper fan header if it doesn't already use one).

The big thing would be to check the fans input power, as long as it's a 12V fan then you should be fine but it may need to be a PWM.

I'm sure you'd be able to. You just might have to mod the GA box itself.

Either that or just remove the connector board, PSU and then build your own box haha.

Gotta admit that would be a pretty sweet mod and it would be so much quieter.
