I have been dealing with an issue on my AW17 R2 2015 for about half a year now. I have this problem where sometimes when I shutdown the computer it doesn't shut off all the way ( everything turns off except the lights, then the fan kicks on and something in the pc starts getting really hot). From my understanding this is most likely due to a bad driver(s) but I have updated everything. I have disabled hybrid start up. I am running windows 10 with a00 bios with a 230w power supply. CPU : i7-4710HQ ,GPU: GTX 980m, I am using an ssd( 850 evo m.2) and the stock hard drive.

Is that like a first revision bios? Have you tried using a newer one if it exists?

I've tried the newer ones before, same problem, and the computer gets really close to overheating, 91C!!!!. I have been using windows 10 verifier and it looks like the drivers for Intel dynamic platform and thermal framework also cause problems. I have tried old and new versions.

Never mind I didn't fix it. Fixed previous post to reflect that.

Wipe and reload time. Don't waste your time trying to track that down. Just reload it.

I never run the power saving profiles, but maybe they try to kick in when the computer is shutting off?
