Hey all, not saying the AW15 is *not* the machine for me, but I'm about to take plunge and before I do, wanted to check if any serious contenders have shown up on the scene in the past few months. Looking for something with similar size, power, etc. Small things for me could be improved (like a numpad- yes I realize that's minor and I can get an external, but still :) -and a few small others.)

Anyway, just curious what you all think!

    Thanks!

ASUS gl551 would be close i think?

a bit thinner than AW15 and a tad bit weaker GPU GTX960M

At this stage there isn't any I can see for the price, but that will depend on what else you can get. lol strange place to post this among many a AW enthusiasts

    MSI GS60/GE
    Clevo P650SE/SG
    Razer 2015
    Aorus
    ASUS ROG
    HP Omen

And the list goes on. A few months ago, I was in the same shoes. Bang for buck and service wise, AW15 was the best in my list. I did get mine with a very good deal that blew any of the laptop prices list above away.

Considering there is no haggling or coupons with the MSI, Razer, and Aorus (for the most part anyway), I think they are extremely overpriced for what they are. So the real and only contender that I was deciding between was the Clevo P650.

The "best" alternative will depend on personal preference.

The Sager NP9752 is a 15.6" monster. It starts at $1550~ from XoticPC. And by "monster," I'm referring to the performance, not the size. It's actually not that big in comparison (perhaps a bit heavier). The heat sinks on this thing, though...

This may very well be my next choice.

    Brosky HTWingNut's review. ;)

I believe the same, there's a huge list of competitors but it'll all depend on your personal needs at the end :)
