I have a 4K 28" Samsung Monitor and am debating if I should buy another [HDMI cable] or to buy a [USB Type-C to Mini DisplayPort] + Mini DisplayPort cable?

The HDMI can handle 4K @ 60Hz yes?

Unless I'm running dual 4K monitors, just go with the HDMI route?

It'd be nice to have the USB Type-C / T3 port open so that I can use my USB Type-C HUB on it for my USB 3.0 slots.

    Thanks.

Since the HDMI port on a AW 15 R2 and AW 17 R3 supports the new HDMI 2.0 features, it should handle 4k @ 60Hz. However, I have no external 4k screen, so I cant validate this. You can also wait for Thunderbolt 3 docking stations. Those were announced at CES and will then split the TB3/USB Type C into several display out ports and normal USB 3.0.
