Tested and works. Thinking it might be a Win10 update issue. Using a 17r3 any tips would be great.

Try switching from standard fan profile to performance mode and back in the bios. Do the fans spin under load?

Have you been messing with the fan profiles manually? Sounds like you have turned them off. If they are running at boot up, then we know the fans are not defective and we know the motherboard is not defective.

I would say you have turned them off.

So you have never fooled with any of the HWInfo fan profiles, or any other program such as that to set your fan speed? How about the graphics card settings, like Afterburner, etc?

Used Afterburner but for the 980m I have no access for the fans. Have no idea what WHInfo is

Afterburner has that ability as well. I suspect you have overclocked the graphics card a bit much. I would restore the factory vbios, asap.

make sure u flash BIOS from bios flash, u can reach there by presing F12, after reset it should configure according to bios profile, if it still doesnt kickin inside ur windows, might be the HWinfo or someother software auto loading and changing the fan profiles, but i highly doubt that..

I wouldn't highly doubt that at all. An auto program sometimes creates reg files. They can be left behind if the program is uninstalled or a number of other ways.

If the fans run on boot, they are definitely not defective. It is a software issue, 100%.

If all else fails, like Rinneh suggested, reload the bios AND the vbios to stock. If you do not have the stock vbios, get it from someone. I have the stock vbios for a 970m, but not for your 980m.
