    I installed one of the later insider builds and one thing I noticed in XTU was Power Limit Throttling was kicking in even though Package TDP was below 45W. Things are also running a little hotter even though indoor temp has dropped. I am undervolting which would solve throttling in the past. There is a slider now in Windows that adjusts the power mode. If I move the slider to best performance I do see less throttling and I see the TDP going over 45W. I'm running the latest BIOS, XTU and official fall update. I haven't noticed any impact in games. I'm hoping we'll see a bios update. Curious if anyone else has noticed this.

    Hey, please post ur system specs, for me i dont have any throttling after Fall Update, i did a Clean ISO install though, but the optimus drivers are still buggy from nvidia, outdated, right click on desktop context menu and it freezes, micro freezes here and there, apart from that intel latest driver doesnt work well, for somereason Win update reverts back to the older 4627 driver set.. did u try the latest Firmware for Intel Management Engine from Winraid ??

    It's a 15 R3 with a 7820HK and 1070 with a GSync display, so no optimus. Purchased in March '17. Everything is running really smooth and haven't noticed anything in normal use or gaming. I was just playing with undervolt settings and noticed that when running the benchmark function of XTU that I was getting power throttling. Even when TDP was well below 45W. I even tested in OCCT and still see power throttling under 45W. These are things I did prior to the fall update.

    power management system on fall creators update is quite different.. hopefully there is a update from dell on new intel management and other drivers.. and one more thing, power throttle shows up even when ur undervolted, when your system doesnt get give enough power to the cpu package, it triggers that.. i had that same thing when i undervolt too much and tried to run XTU tests on a 4720HQ.. to be honest the overall laptop system power delivery / firmware thing are pretty messed up.. no transparency whats so ever like a desktop counterpart..

    I've installed newer MEI and Dynamic Platform and Thermal framework drivers (dated July and June '17) just to see if there is any difference. I'm thinking it will be a bios update.

    the latest MEI driver for alienware 15 r2 is 11.7.0.1043 only if u upgraded ur IME firmware to the latest 11.8 series.. most of the people are stuck with 11.0 version.. some to 11.6 or 11.7.. and for dynamic platform latest driver is 8.3 version.. sad that alienware bios dint include any update.. @Vasudev is there any chance that you could contact Alienware Software Development side ?? if im right you must be working for DELL.. haha

    I'm using DPTF from 15 r3 on my r2. Yeah BIOS isn't updated to include 11.6 or above. Well, there's an MEI update for 15 r3, I reckon its compatible with only 15 r3 skylake to 11.6
    I don't work for Dell.

    could you post me ur current ME firmware version along with Software vesion.. also if you could post some other driver versions that would help.. im testing few stuffs.. ur current Intel GPU driver.. Chipset Driver.. Windows Version. im just trying to fix my laptop.. i got myself a new heatsink.. but sadly.. my temps are not good. i tried repasting for the 4th time today.. alignments are perfect.. using GC extreme thermal paste.. and artic 0.5mm thermal pads.. thermal paste gets pushed over to the corners when i fit the heatsink back.. never had this isue with ICD.. may be its thicker.. reaching 80.5 on PCH 800mhz throttle triggers.. on 11.7 MEI verison it was around 84-86C.. now with 11.8 me firmware its kinda low.. im just trying to solve this VRM + Cpu heatsink contact issue..

    What do you do to get that insane temps?
    I just downloaded MEI SW from Dell and I deleted it from my system since it doesn't apply FW patch because ME region is completely locked. I downloaded IRST for 15 r3 v15.7.5 and I'm testing it. Will let you know via PM.
    Chipset SW 10.1.1.42
    INTEL HD GFX v4771
    Nvidia w/o telemetry and bloat-> 388.0
    Latest Killer Control Center and Killer W7 Bluetooth drivers (latest)
    I'm on creators update.

    PCH on 80c without any heatsink is common.. not so insane, specially when recording gamplay through shadowplay with NVMe drives.. heavy loads on lanes.. ambients around 28c.. try running MEINFO and check ur version of Firmware and PM me.. Sure.. I tested the latest 15.8 RST on Fall creators update.. i reverted back to AHCI.. usually RAID mode gives snappier user experience. but ON W10 FCU its the opposite.. and there is no HPF power profile.. only the slider option when u click the battery option..
