    Hello everyone,

Looking for a few opinions on the screens for the new 17's.

Is 120hz available on the FHD 1080 screen? I don't see anything mentioned on the website at all. I would strongly prefer 120hz as that is what I am used to but I don't know if it is an option with the the 1440 QHD screen. I am reading about a lot of problems with the QHD screens and Gsync so I would prefer to stick to 1080 if possible, but I don't want to lose the 120hz option. The UHD is off the table for me due to light bleed and I just don't see the 1070 lasting as long trying to run 4k.

    Thanks

For the Alienware 17, it's only QHD (1440p) 120Hz. The Alienware 15 has a FHD 120Hz display option.

From what I've been told, the Alienware 15's is nicer than the 17's, which is odd.

If you're used to 120hz than stick with 120hz. I came from 120hz myself and noticed a huge difference in frame smoothness from the 4K I just had. I heard the QHD isn't so bad if you get a good one. Some stated that it's one of the better TN displays out there. Still waiting for mine...

Probably because it's the more popular model (don't have the source from alien/dell rep)
