Enough space for this in AW17 R2?

    I have a 1TB 850 EVO, but it's mSATA.

    I saw this on Amazon:

mSATA Mini SATA 3 SSD to M.2(NGFF) B Key Adapter

Is there enough space in the AW17 R2's M.2 drive bay for this adapter? It's slightly thicker than a M.2 drive since it's the adapter's thickness in addition to the mSATA drive's thickness, stacked on top of each other.

With one of the middle slots you should be ok but it will eat up 3 spaces.

I have one of those adapters and an AW 17 R2. I will take a look tomorrow and verify either way with a pic :)

OK, Below are my pics with the two adapters I found. The one above does not fit due to 1) the width blocking it in slots 1 and 4 and 2) Dell putting in two bits of plastic (supports?) in between the 2nd and 3rd slot, as you can see in my pic. You could cut those off, but better yet, get the second adapter which I show fitting in the space. It does take all 4 slots up though, so this should only be used if you really want an msata in there. Otherwise, buy some m.2 samsung 850 evo's and call it a day :)

I bought both adapters from http://www.microsatacables.com (no affiliation)

    Awesome! Thanks Nyceis.

I'll be using that 2nd adapter (I believe it's the same one I linked to in the first post above).

    I have a 1TB 2.5" 850 Pro. and a 1TB mSATA 850 EVO so I won't need any M.2 drives once both of my drives are in.

So once that 2nd adapter is in, it rests right on top of the "dividers" / the "dividers" aren't in the way of the adapter sitting flat?

Also, once the adapter is in and a mSATA drive plugged into that, can the access cover of the laptop be put back on without crushing the mSATA drive?

The piece that holds the msata is sitting right between the dividers, not on top of, so I *think* the msata will fit height-wise. I don't have any msatas available to test for 100%, though.

Those dividers will stop the middle ports being used by the looks of it with the all in one adapter (with cable). You would need to remove/grind them down to get it to fit with the obvious warranty implications.

With the cabled one you could get the larger pcb bit to sit on the other side of the divide to the part that plugs into the motherboard and it should be ok.

It's nice thing but I not think so what in new r2 model enough space for it, he is pretty slim if compare with previous generation and I think you will have some issues
