Does anyone notice that 265GB SSD dive's write speed is unnormal?

I ordered my 15 R2 last week, now it's on the way to me. :) I did some search in Samsung's website about the PM951 ssd drive, just noticed that the write speed is only up to 280MB/s. That totally SUCKS, usualy it should have more than 500MB/s writing speed for the PCIe ssd drive. There is another thing I noticed, the 512 GB PM951 has up to 560MB/S. Well, when it comes down to the 256GB, the performance will go down too? Really?

Yes, I have the 256 and write speeds are rather slow. Read speeds are fantastic though so for most people this is fine 99% of the time but it is a little dissapointing I agree.

Yup, those seem to be the specs according to Samsung. You could try adding a different one down the road.

Yeah, going to order a 512gb SM951, but I heard that one could get really hot when it's working.

Guys does the new alienware r2 come stock with pm951 or sm951 Samsung drive.?! The sm951 is Much faster from Samsung website, "the ultra-slim notebooks andrespectivelys wanting to adopt the PCIe 3.0 interface, the SM951 can read and write sequentially at 2,150MB/s and 1,550 MB/s respectively"

Also maybe an alienware rep can chime in on a question, Does the aliemware 15 r2 support booting from the Samsung sm951 nvme m.2 ssd or only the ahci model sm951?

It's pm951 for sure, which is much slower comparing to sm951.

Ok makes sense now, I am just going to get a samsung evo 850 250gb m.2 500+MB read and write speeds. Seems to me PCIE drives are still not matured and rather expensive gonna wait till they have something better that doesnt overheat and cheaper. For now the Samsung evo 850 will do just fine and not have compatability issues.

Yeah, for that price, it should be good. I would like to stay with the stock ssd for a while, and wait for better pcie ssd.
