Do you think Dell will release a coffee lake version of the Alienware 13 with the OLED screen?

I have been hearing a lot that there was a shortage of OLED screens and that possibly there wasn't going to be a coffee lake refresh for the Alienware OLED 13. I really like the Alienware 13. great keyboard. Amazing touch screen. I never realized how much I would use the touch screen but I had the crappy mobile CPU version. I would happily invest in a coffee lake OLED Alienware 13 or should I just get the 7th generation one now?

There won't be a replacement for the 13R3. Shame too, the OLED screen is still a huge buying point for the 13 R3.

I would still buy A13 R3 today. Re-sell value is very good for next 2-3 years (once you have warranty) in case another OLED comes out.

    A sentence from below article:

'Nonetheless, Dell says it's prepared to reintroduce the technology again should OLED become more widely available in the future.'

    https://www.notebookcheck.net/Dell-...D-laptops-but-supply-is-limited.328798.0.html

I so hope this will happen. Any OLED 13, 14, 15 or 17 inch would get HUGE demand. Alienware, you were first, stay first !!!!!

Surprising to hear it. Are you satisfied with the gaming performance on your A13? Do you play on FHD or the native resolution? Does things look weird when you play on the non-native resolution?

So you would still recommend getting the R3 over the dozen Max-Q designs and coffee lake refresh around? Honestly, I love the 2.2mm keyboard travel. I hate mushy keyboards. I think the only keyboards with equal or higher travel are massive beasts and not as portable as the R3

@mnd99 I have had A13R3 since October 2017. Performance-wise I see no problems with any game. Battlefield 5 will play FHD 60 fps on 1060 full settings = confirmed.

Yes, I play all games in FHD only, things look great, I have not played one game in native resolution. No need. OLED looks 97% the same FHD vs. native resolution, all just gets a (very) small bit darker.
Scaling OLED as compared to TN screen (below) just acts and looks different.

In-game in day-scenarios sparks and lights are jumping at you, night is just OLED enjoyable, and you know that you have the best laptop screen there is.

I re-played games like Battlefield 3, 4, Crysis 1,2,3 only because of the screen, and all I can say: it is going to be difficult to switch to non-OLED screen.

Before A13R3 I had Clevo P150EM with 7970M and FHD 95% sRGB TN screen, but OLED is just another level. Any film, even browsing looks 'different-better'.

I do recommend buying Alienware 13 R3 today, I would, no joking. Just catch some good promotion. Keyboard is also good, definitely the best I ever typed on.

And, if you do not like it (e.g. OLED will not impress you), returning it within specific time is no problem with DELL.

You my friend saved the day. The only reason I didn't go for the R3 was this perception that it was old. You destroyed that perception. I honestly can't find a better keyboard than alienware ones!

Love my OLED 13, will renew the warranty closer to when it expires. Dont plan
Most games today perform pretty close across the last 3-4 generation of CPU’s. I have a laptop with a 940mx and a 980m and it play BF4/1 over 100fps at 1080p without issue.

My good friend is still rocking a 4790k build with 780 and plays right along with everyone with great performance.

People get to wrapped up in new hardware for the sake of it being new. Pay attention tot he performance in which you’ll be using the machine for and determine if a awesome 13 with OLED will get the job done. CPU might be slower than a new 6 core in some aspects but I promise the screen on anything you buy will not match the OLED and the 1060 handles is admirably in games.

    I can play BF:V on my M18x (i7 3820QM/1060) 1080p Ultra fine, the 13 shouldn't have any issues either.

Pair it with a graphics AMP and 2080Ti and you should be good for awhile.

7700HQ is still a good CPU for gaming tasks.

They might introduce a m15 slim model in the future, maybe it'll take the 13's spot.

Dell outlet is good since you get a one year warranty. If anything is wrong you'll be covered.
