my laptop hasn't arrived yet but I do have a quick question I can't seem to find the answer to. Do you have to turn the graphics card on if you want to game on high settings?

A friend of mine has the 17r2 I believe and it's kind of annoying to keep pressing fn+f5(or f7, I don't remember) to turn the graphics card on. I borrowed it before and sometimes I would forget to turn it off and it's under heavy load and using more battery while I'm browsing the Internet.

If that's the case, is it the same function? Do you have to do something else? Maybe turn on a program or console command?

There's a whitelist that you can use in the nVidia's control panel to select which softwares you wish to run with the nVidia card.
