I looked around for an answer to this question to no avail. My new AW17R3 is running on the Intel 530 GPU and I cannot get the GTX980 driver to take. The bios is stock (.8) since there were so many problems on here changing. Any help would be appreciated

The Intel 530 always runs and cannot be disabled. If any demanding tasks require more gpu power then the 980 will take over.

Or do you mean when you play games it is always running on the Intel gpu?

I have yet to run a game but when I go into display properties the only adapter that shows up is the Intel 530. GTX980 no where to be found??

When you right click on the desktop do you see nvidia control panel?

Also look in the device manager at display adapters. Is it listed there?

Yes when I right click the desktop, there is a NVidia selection. But in display properties -advanced-display adapter, there is only Intel530 listed. I updated Nvidia drivers from Nvidia's web site and it did not help. I disabled the Intel adaper in device manager and it went to the Microsoft default driver not the GTX.

That's because it will always run on the Intel graphics until the dedicated 980m is needed.

Your 980m is still working don't worry. Just run a game or a benchmark and you will see that the performance is what it should be for this chip.

Try running 3dmark Demo and tell us what score you get on it.

As far as I know the demo only runs at 1080p so you should expect a score of about 8200 - 8500

I have just ran it for you on my R3 and got 8314 so you should have a similar score.

My 3D Mark score for FireStrike 1.1 was 8,252 I have the bios performance setting on level 1. I just don't like a bunch of fan noise if I was to crank the level.
