Sondecidong whether I should keep my current model or return to BestBuy and order from Dell.

    Current is 4K screen, 6700HQ, 128ssd, 970m

I would be getting all options on the new one. However, I am torn on whether it would even matter? I know all about these things, but for some reason, I need opinions lol.

970 vs 980 and 6700 vs 6820. I just don't know if there would be that big of a difference to warrant switching. Gaming mainly, but the 970 seems to run everything fine now even at 4K.

    Thoughts?

Personally, if what you have now meets all your needs then I would keep it. No reason to go through any hassle if it's not needed.

If you do decide to return the only change I can see making any difference is the 980M GPU vs the 970M. It's about 15-30% depending on the benchmark used, but I'm not sure what the difference is in "real world" performance, or how that stacks up against what your require from it, so you may not even notice.

    Thanks Altec,

Yea, I go back and forth, but the one I have is very nice. So I feel like I might be tempting fate, lol.

I'd keep it if everything you need to run is running properly. As mentioned above, there's a small difference between the performance of the two GFX cards and even less between the two processors.

    Thanks Porras,

That's what I was looking for and I agree. The difference between the two is so minuscule, you only see it on graphs that have the numbers. I can't tell a difference when I play on each. Both great machines.
