Anyone had any luck getting the colors to look good/right on the 17 R2? I got the glossy display specifically so that the colors would pop a little more than the anti-glare. I've fooled around for a while with the display settings and can't seem to find a good point.

From the factory, the colors were...colorful I guess. All the colors were really deep and distinguishable. However, the brightness just wasn't there at all. It was really almost like the brightness was just set to about 50%. So obviously, I tried cranking up the brightness only to find it was maxed (Fn+F10). Since then, I've been bouncing brightness, contrast, gamma, saturation around. I just can't find a good sweet spot where whites are really white and blacks are black, etc... Either the colors look nice but the overall brightness is way low, or the brightness is there and the colors are washed out.

Any tips, tricks, or specific configurations to get a nice BRIGHT display and have true looking colors?

Get your screen model from HWinfo64 ... Get any professionally calibrated color profile for that screen from any similar laptop that was reviewed on NOTEBOOKCHECK

You are never going to get anywhere playing with the settings yourself. Buying, renting, or borrowing a colorimeter to calibrate your individual display is the only way to get it as good as possible. I've not personally had any good results by using profiles I found online.
