I'm thinking of getting 1080 when they drop, what's the best place to pick up an AGA on the cheap?

Before that you might want to check what the max data transfer rate on the AGA is, because if it is gimped or is less than that of the 1080, you will be wasting money and will be better off with a 1070. Sorry if this is OT, but i felt it was worth mentioning.

32gb/s is the max bandwith of the AGA, TB3 40gb/s

Then it might be all Gucci. Just gotta check if any of the lanes are being shared. In a lotnofbbeds TB3 laptops the TB shares some pcie lanes from what I understood. AGA seems to be a good implementation though.

Oh no-no. Down under it shares data lanes with other components. Like M.2 SSD's.
