Just got a new ssd last week so I reinstalled windows on it. When I set it up I forgot to switch it to ahci from raid, noob move. So I have been trying to switch it to ahci without success. I then tried to go into safe mode but I have no options! I have never experienced this before! Says windows re is disabled also. change to ahci error.PNG

What happens when you revert to RAID? Can you boot Windows? Go into safe mode?

I'm in raid currently. I never switched it to ahci in bios yet. I have to type a command or change something in windows before I switch it to ahci in bios right? I can't simply switch to ahci and it works?

Looks like something else is wrong then. I followed this procedure to switch to AHCI: 1) Downloaded drivers 2) Told windows to reboot in safe mode 3) Before it did, switched to AHCI in BIOS - it booted in safe mode after switched to AHCI 4) Installed drivers in safe mode 5) Rebooted

I have terrible luck. I think there might be a issue with the windows 10 ISO. I think they're missing the winre.wim file.

What drivers are you talking about?

Turns out i cant reset the pc either.
    Cant make a recovery drive.
    Cant restore.

Just so confused! Why can't stuff just work.

To top things off, I got connected to the same guy and showed him a piece of my mind. His excuse is laughable.

I think Win recovery partition wasn't created OR Maybe safe mode was corrupted.
    Try this cmd:
    Code:
    bcdedit /set {default} safeboot minimal

Try msconfig.exe in search bar and switch to safe mode from there. Most likely BCD entries are locked out on your PC.

Clicking the safe mode tick box does nothing.

Once safe mode minimal is checked, hit apply and restart to get into safe mode directly.
