I have a 13 r3 with the i7-7700 and 1060 6GB GPU (non OLED) that I use to play Project Cars 2. I'm looking to upgrade my viewing experience. From what I've read VR and/or triple monitors would not work well enough? (Please correct me if I'm wrong on that)

So the next affordable solution for me would be a 21:9 monitor at 1080p. Would the 13r3 be able to drive that monitor or would I be better off sticking to a nice 16:9? Anything will be an upgrade over the 13 inch screen.

The GPU can drive such a monitor, but it depends the game if you get good framerates. I dont know how heavy project cars 2 is. But if you get a framerate of around 90~100fps in the settings you want on 1080, you can expect about 60fps on an ultrawide.
