I need some help to research the ghosting of the 1080p screen.

If you own the Alienware 15 with the 1080p screen could you please download HWINFO64 and use it to identify your LCD?

    Please download http://www.hwinfo.com/

This will be very useful to at least me and to whoever else suffers from ghosting. It has been pointed out that there may be two different types of 1080p LCD screens. One may ghost and one may not. This would explain why some people are happy and others are not.

Thanks in advance to anyone that takes the time out to help us out.

Please post here with your LCD hardware info from HWINFO64.

I just found out that this same samsung "SDC4C48" is also used in inspirons. :(
Someone mentioned they may also have an LG that gets distributed as the same Dell part number.

Another interesting thing is that these are "DisplayPorts" That might mean there is a driver hack to enable G-Sync. :)

Is this your only system that you game on? When I compare to my older M17xR3, Alienware 14, or my Desktop gaming monitor.. its blurry as hell. I have to stop moving around to see certain things.. I basically have to compensate for the extra blur. I didnt expect that the same LCD from an Alienware would be also used in a mainstream laptop like an Inspiron.

I didn't notice any blurry , I even tried google cardboard playing bf4. [IMG] not sure if it is related since it monitor my screen. The only thing you can do is request replacement, nothing you really can do, I believe.

There are definitely 2 screen models, I've just been sent out a replacement for overheating issues so I have 2 here side by side.

My original has the Samsung panel and it is a thing of beauty with no notible ghosting that I can see. Excellent colours and crisp white whites.

The replacement has an LG panel. Unfortunately it has a really bad yellow tint across the whole screen and a huge light bleed across about 1/4 of the screen. Everything is yellow, especially whites.
I haven't been able to game on it because I'm getting constant BSOD when I play any game or run Heaven Benchmark, so I'm sending it back.

I have the LG Philips LGD046F

The same one as my last 15inch Alienware that I got replaced. Not much ghosting (typical for 15inch IPS screens), no yellow tint. In fact a perfectly balanced white which is not too red, yellow or blueish.

    SAMSUNG [Unknown Model: SDC4C48]

Not much ghosting here, about the color reproduction I think it is on the warmer side of things but then again, I don't have a calibrated display to compare it with, it just seems warmer than my older laptop.

Ok display for my taste but I remember being blown away only once for a laptop display, it was a dell xps laptop some years ago, don't know the name but it had some leather on the lid.

Yeah both the LG and the Samsung are a bit warmer/and punchier than most screens.

I have the LG and have the normal IPS ghosting if you look real close, but nothing absurd.

Virtually no backlight bleed and excellent colors!

    Hey guys,

I got the LG Philips LP156WF6.
A bit of ghosting but I've never been really bothered by it ;D

My old GT60 had terrible one, and I remembered I could handle it.

The colours on this LG are good though. A bit too much of contrast but good for me.

All IPS screens have some degree of Ghosting.. but usually its very minimal. The ghosting I was referring to with the Samsung I had was so bad it stuck out. In some games I would have to stop to see things in the game. The AU Optronics is not as bad as the Samsung but is still unusual and the LG seems to be the best. Waiting to get my hands on an LG to test. If I have to buy one I will but I will certainly report back just so people have the info. :)

Looks like yours says the same. That HWinfo is pretty accurate. I doubt you are going to get someone to take apart their lid/lcd. Im confused, your posted part number is the same as his posted dell part number yet you said it was different. Seems they are the same panel.
Im curious how is the ghosting on that? I had 3 of those and they always ghosted like crazy. Got me an LG panel and its night and say, much lower blur.

Well you should check the main thread for R2, a lot of people shared their screen models over there including me. Mine is a SAMSUNG too.

His is DELL P/N: FYTXT and the R2 which is mine is DELL P/N: 4NDDJ , the panel info in HWinfo is however identical on both. I know for a fact they are not the same panel because the R1 is 300 nit and the R2 is 220 nit. I have not been able to find a picture of the actual back of the R1 samsung panel to compare to my R2 samsung panel. it is not difficult to take off the panel, just pry the bezel up on edges with your finger nails being careful to not put to much pressure on screen. after the bezel is off there is only 4 small phillip head screws to be removed then you can drop the panel down making sure the video cable doesnt get snagged. The service manual from dell goes through entire process of removing LCD as well.
