    Hey all

Have not posted for a long time. Managed to buy a new AW17 R4 with 1080 and i7-7820hk. It is with the TN panel @ 120hz

The issue is that right out of the box with dells own OS install the CPU is stuck at 0,8ghz. Do what you want it will not go over it.

    What i have tried:
    1) Did dells diagnostic- came up clean
    2) Updated all the drivers - I ssue still present
    3) Tried AW OC and throttle stop - still does not go over 0,8ghz
    4) Tried diff power brick from my old M18 (330w) - still same
    5) Ran 3d mark to see if it scales up : results tell that it did not https://www.3dmark.com/fs/15463051
    6) As I had gon from the stock SSD to a M.2 samsung 960 i did a clean install of the OS but still does not go over 0,8ghz
    7) Bios reflashed, coms reset - still same
    8) Set performance in bios for cpu and fan to Performance mode - still same

Running out of ideas. And would hate to take it back to the shop after 2 days of owning it :D

Have you tried fiddling with the BIOS settings?
I personally don't own a AW, but can help if you can send me a photo of BIOS settings page.

There is nothing fiddle with in the BIOS. The bios is empty. Only things that might effect CPU performance are "CPU performance mode -enable/disable" and "CPU fan performance mode - enable/disable"

Tried changing but nothing. The CPU fan mode made the fans work at full load. Now have tried 3 different SSD and HDD-s with clean OS on them. Nothing works. What is funny is that downloaded intels CPU diagnostics and for it all is good. It even passed on the CPU freq. test had HWinfo running in the background and it did not go over 0,8 ghz but for the test it saw that the CPU whent up to 2,909 ghz

Think you should take it to the shop.If you've already tried resetting the CMOS, I'm out of ideas.

I have the same problem on my current R3. The temp throttle on the CPU is broken, so it is permentantly throttling your CPU. I tried reinstall OS / drivers, and nothing fixed it. Only fix is to run ThrottleStop and disable the temp throttle.

Well it looks like my CPU is stuck on battery save for some reason. Might be the power board. Temperature are ok .low 40-43C°. Mutiplier is stuck on 8 and changing it will no help and the CPU clock is scaled to 0,75-0,79 ghz. Max load when installing and running benches was 25% utilisation of CPU.
Well at least I was asked to return the notebook tomorrow and they will just swap it out for a new (tested) R4.

Got it replaced. The tech doing the tests said that it had the power of a tablet. Not much more information was given as they send the notification to dell and dell just asked the tech to run some tests before sending a new part.
But he did say that it was hardware related.
