As the title said, I ordered my r3 last week, equipped it with a 7820hk, a 1070 GTX and the 120hz panel.

I received the laptop a few hours ago and of course wanted to set it up, undervolt it and then forget it.

While the laptop idle in the 30-40, as soon as I open a single internet page, fan spins up and XTU report the CPU at 100 degrees with 5% load.

The laptop is cold to the touch so I'm kind of lost about what's happening here.

I have some pads and gelid GC around the house, if I need to repad and repaste, I just find this behavior really weird.

The laptop is brand new, I didn't install anything except XTU and GPU-Z

100°C O_O mmm just to make sure, try reading temps with another app like Hw monitor and if it is the same, you should repaste. they make really good laptops but the assembly department sucks ... for other side, i dont care if it have a good paste, i always want the best, so if was me, i would like to repaste as soon as it arrive and then OVERCLOCK !!! hahahaha have a nice day

That sounds more like a faulty sensor. I would call to Dell and get them to diagnose it.
If anything, at start-up, run diagnostics in the BIOS and see if everything with the hardware is good to go.

Well since the laptop is cold to the touch, I'm also guessing it's a faulty sensor, but the sensor makes the CPU throttle, Dell is sending a completely new cooling systems in 2 days.

I wasn't sure about going with Alienware and Dell, I hope I'm simply unlucky and got a one time lemon, otherwise, someone in QC needs to take a look in the mirror.
