Does anybody know if there is any kind of data base out there, anywhere that can tell you what the best nvidia driver to use per game and per card?

I have been playing elite dangerous with my 980TI and using nvidia driver 361.75 the GPU uses 99% which gives me better FPS with 4K Ultra settings. However if I use any of the more recent drivers from nvidia, the gpu usage goes down to almost 60% on times and the FPS are really lagging as a result giving poor gaming experience.

If anybody can help with this, it would be amazing! Don't know anymore if games could run better just using older drivers but without going on a major mission its going to be very difficult to find out.

    Many thanks

Oh wow. You're probably right! That makes sense.

Oh here comes the ******** again.

To the topic starter. Go to the nvidoa control panel, create a profile for the fame you want to play. And at the power settings select maximum performance. Some games have bugs and lower the clockspeed because the drivers think not more power is needed but still the framerste goes down drastically. Had the same issue with overwatch while that game isnt even demanding. Also a fresh install helps.

I had tried that. And as a matter of fact.... I have been on a bit of a testing mission lately. Using my 980 TI with AGA. Driver version 361.75 actually gives the smoothest game play on all my games, no matter the frame rate. With the newer drivers, unless it stays at or above the refresh rate I get an annoying stutter. Not with the 361.75 driver though. Plays games perfect in 4k at ultra settings on all my games! Loving it now.
Easily the best performance I have had since having the 980 TI!

You have to search somewhere else. Because I measured no performance degradation on 3 systems with maxwell and kepler architecture GPU's.

Also I highly doubt your statement. 980TI smooth gameplay on 4K under 60fps? Only maybe with vsync turned off around 45~50fps. But with vsync on it will always be sluggish because the framerate will be halved. Also some games run very erratically with Vsync turned off such as the Witcher and has to do with the engine.

Ultra settings on 4K with a 980TI is just not possible even on a desktop with good framerates.

Vsync turned off is awful. Too much tearing. My fps on most my games go as low as 30 with my 980 TI and yes, its not the smoothest of gameplay but definitly plays at the frame rate stated instead of being choppy. Not claiming its smoooooth. Just stating that when its running at 35 fps, then its as smooth as 35 fps. No choppyness.

Any newer drivers give alot of choppy gameplay. It may say its 35 fps 4k ultra but it feels more like 5.

But that is impossible. if you have vsync on, 60hz screen. The 35fps will become 30fps. 30fps is quite choppy to begin with.

No it doesn't reduce to 30. Never has for me. I have 60hz lcd, vsync 100% on and never reduces to just 30. I can't be the only one with this situation. Do you have AGA and GPU?

It is impossible what you say. Vsync always halves to 30 if your framerate goes below 60. Thats how it works. And comes with input lag. If it doesnt then vsync is turned off for example in the control panel.

Vsync is turned on in control panel and turned on in game. It is on! The reason I know this is because its doing the job its meant to do and unless I disable it, FPS wont go above 60. My FPS never only run at 60 or 30! I am aware that this is the case for some computers but not mine. Don't know why but that would suck anyway.
I play GTA V ultra in 4k, Vsync on so no tearing and it runs around 50 fps with current driver and it really does feel like 50 instead of being choppy because it wont stay at 60 fps. (My usual problem)
Any who. This was not the issue I'm having. I wanted to know if there were any drivers known to work better than the current one I'm using as any of the new ones run like s***!
