I bought an Alienware 17 r3 just over a week ago. Its a nice machine but there is one big issue with it, the wifi reception is really bad. If i use the laptop in my room upstairs the wifi performance is awe full because of poor reception. Its so bad in fact that you cant even properly watch a youtube video and loading a normal web page will take a few seconds. If i move closer to the modem the performance is a bit better. But still worse than my Asus by a wide margin. That makes me wonder why, my Alienware is supposed to have a fancy Killer wifi card. I have installed the driver from the Dell support page and windows is updated.

Yeah those killer wifi cards are awful. Dell was mondo stupid for using them in their high end systems.

Be careful, not only are they badcards but they are also constructed like they're held together with peanut butter and melted crayon and the wifi connector will snap very easily, rendering your wifi antenna 100% useless. If you plan on replacing it I mean.

Alright so there is nothing that i could do to fix it? It would be a deal breaker for me if i cant normally use the laptop around the house and will probably end up selling it again.

Download Killer Uninstaller and download either full Killer package or just base drivers to solve your issue.

Hmm.. Tried setting roaming aggressiveness to Lowest? Refer here at the first post. http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/killer-wireless-1535-terrible-signal-range.812240/page-2
Also, check the Wifi router's AC adapter is properly connected along with all the wires. The Qualcomm chip aka killer 1535 is too strict if Wifi power transmission power isn't optimal! chek nirsoft Wifichannel view or something. Next step, is to change Channel to 1 or 6 if you're on 2.4GHz and higher channels on 5GHz band.
