Perhaps I'm missing the option somewhere, but whenever I plug in my headphones my volume remains at the same volume it was when I was listening on the speakers. So if I had volume up, could blow my ears out. And or vice versa, have volume low and finally take headphones off and then I have to bring volume back to reasonable level for the speakers.

This may be more of a windows question, but I know that sound-blaster software will pop up when I plug it in so surely the system is aware and i just need to check a box. Does anyone know how to do this?

I haven't seen that option on the audio panel.

They have that feature on smartphones. Wonder why Windows doesn't implement it.

Actually Windows does have that features, the problems is that Dell Audio Driver is crab, If you check, it can recognized when you plug your headphone in, but it won't let windows recognized it. I tried with Bluetooth audio, Windows easily managed the volume. Because it is Bluetooth driver from windows and qualcomn bluetooth, nothing related to Sound Blaster ProStudio (Recon3Di). I even need to go deep inside windows sound settings to disable features introduce in sound blaster to help the mic can recording clearly.

It's unfortunate that the implementation for the creative driver is preventing something as simple as plugging in your headphones and automatically lowering system volume from happening. Maybe it's time for a lengthy tech support call / chat to see if they can figure this out or at least see the restriction that's in place.

As you said, this works on your system? Can you take some images of which options Creative driver configure in your system, SoundBlaster Pro? I can't make a call for them now because I'm out of US atm.

I got the same problems as your, and I think that is because of the hardware failure (in some kind of way). Why I said that? Because one of my friends got the same system like me and he did not experienced this. Couple days ago I really upset that I find out my 2 months Alienware has 1 dead pixel in the middle of the screen, it's really small and I almost didn't notice if I do not intend to find it. But when I found it, it's really annoying. Because I bought this system and moved to Asia, I'm requesting to transfer warranty to Asia, so I can ask for a sound chipset and screen replace if possible. Otherwise, I can live with it fine. But still upset when this is the first Alienware I have and it just 2 months old and got too much freaking/annoying problems. (I have 4 different Dell laptop and it all good)
