This is my first Alienware system and I just notice this. I posted in the A51m official lounge but my question was left unanswered.

I noticed that the two Alienware logos in my A51m don't show accurate RGB colors compared to the rest of the lighted parts (keyboard keys, touchpad, macro buttons, tron). Could anyone confirm if this is really how the colors are emitted when passing through the translucent white logos. Both AW logos (power button and the one at the back of the lid) shows the exact same color. RGB used is 37,170,255.

Below are photos showing the color of the power button light compared to the keyboard/touchpad and the image shown in the AW Command Center.

I created individual AlienFX theme for each color - Red(255,0,0), Green(0,255,0), and Blue(0,0,255) - to check if the LEDs would display those colors correctly and they did.

I'm wondering whether this is the normal behavior or a hardware/software issue.

    Thanks!

It's been a problem in the past with previous models. While I don't know for sure , mine does the same thing and I think it's the light cable that connects those two parts to the motherboard. I have the exact same issue on my 17R4 as have others. Short of replacing my cable nothing else has fixed it thus far , and I can't be bothered to tear my system down to replace that cable, I just turn the LED's red on the affected parts as the red colors display just fine, it's only blue that is messed up. As your system is still new I would contact support and have them either send something with parts or replace the machine.

Does your blue LED light up when you set it to RGB(0,0,255)? Or is it completely out?

I believe the reason for this was because the logo doesn't have the same LEDs and the same range as the others. I also have this on my 13R3, where blue just displays as white. It's just best to manually adjust it to the color which comes the closest and disregard the color wheel.

That's what I did just to satisfy my OCD.

Do you see the same greenish tint on your A51m's logos?

Did you ever get this figured out at all?

My 51m has the same problem. I would love to fix it without resorting to replacement parts.

My Area-51m started doing the same thing. Both the power button and alien head light on the lid are the same greenish color. While troubleshooting, I initially thought that setting it to 0,0,255 turned the light off completely, until I tried it in a dark room. The blue is super dim. Here is a photo of the same laptop before and after the problem:

    Things I've tried:

    - Complete uninstall and reinstall of AWCC
    - Various updates and rollbacks of bios
    - Reseating of all ribbon cables and wiring harness connectors associated with the lights
    - Complete reinstall of OS and all software.

I really hope someone figures out a solution that isn't hardware as I'll be damned if I let one of those in home service techs touch my laptop to replace a motherboard. This minor nuisance is seriously triggering my OCD.

I have slight discrepancies between by keyboard and the "tron" lights on the sides of my 17r5, which is mostly just fix with tweaks to software and call good enough. I had bigger issues where the lights under the screen (Alienware text) did a similar thing where the "blue" channel basically just died/was very dim. Nothing short of replacing it fixed it for me, though I didn't try replacing just the cable.
