Area 51m thru Dell's website isn't available in my country. Hence, I opted to choose XoticPC. However, there is a significant delay with XoticPC, and I noticed that Hidevolution continuously gets their Area51m orders whereas XoticPC has not received a single Area51m from earlier this year. Like, hidevolution even listed some Area 51m variants as "in stock".

    Now my questions are:

1.) Why is hidevolution receiving their stock vs xoticpc not receiving anything.
2.) Why is there around 400 USD difference between hidevolution and xoticpc Area 51m.

If I wasn't a long time member in this forum then I would've already thought that XoticPC scammed me but because I know that they do get a mention in this forum every now and then, I know that they are credible resellers. (I'm quite paranoid that I actually checked if I purchased from a fake website fronting as XoticPC or something).

Should I just ask for a refund and order thru Hidevolution?

Same boat as you. I don't know about hidevoultion though. Is it really in stock? and when I bought mine 2 months ago at xoticpc, it was literally 1k cheaper with the same specs, than it was at hidevoultion.

I think XoticPC is playing safe and are letting all issues fixed at dell factory instead of ruining customers laptop.
Even HID is trying its best for RMAs for affected products.

Because with HIDevolution who is an authorized Dell reseller as I saw in Frank Azor's Twitter account, you get superb quality and cooling mods. You get what you pay for.

    Good luck

I purchased my 1st 17R4 from them and in general I wasn't happy with the backlight bleed, I know I didn't purchase the 100 USD screen upgrade but I thought I got a bottom 1% of the screen, it was downright bleeding even with white light.

    Then, this job from hidevolution:

    Which makes me think.. . .. . . . . .and think. :(

You ordered two months ago and haven't received it yet?

I placed and order on 9th April. What are the chances I get the laptop delivered from Xotic before June 1st?

Let me know what you decide. I'm on the same boat as you and will take your decision into consideration. Is there any representative of Xotic around these parts? Any comment would be useful at this point rather than lose their business.

I'm waiting till the end of April. :(

    @Support.2@XOTIC PC

I thought I saw that low pricing earlier as well, then I waited for reviews and eventually ordered one Mar 15 with a higher price tag but still lower than other resellers.

I asked the xotic's customer support and they said every Area 51m order is not yet fulfilled as dell is not shipping any of their orders and is continuously pushing the shipment date backwards and beyond. :(

which country are u from? if you are from Malaysia, we need to start a petition to push dell marketing to release this laptop here. compared to resellers, i very much prefer to buy it from dell directly.

Unfortunately no, I'm based in Qatar now and no consumer electronics shop here has the Area 51m. Mind you, even if they did, the prices are astronomical. Borderline scamming    o_O

I've canceled my order from Xotic and placed an order through Hidevolution. Xotic couldn't even give me a estimated delivery date and had no clue when they'll receive their first Area 51m unit. My patience has run out and I don't mind paying ~300$ extra now.

I have inquired about how to do refund for bank wire transactions. However, on that same day, my order was updated to phase 2 and that they have allocated the hardware for my order. This happened after I received a word that Area51m/s are arriving to Xotic's warehouse.

Then you're lucky and should wait it out. Sadly for me, I've already initiated the refund on 24th but the funds are yet to reflect on my bank account. This wait is killing me.
Keep us updated with you new system mate. Good luck

How did you upgrade the warranty through Dell Dubai? Is it online?

No I had to call them on 80004413889 then they had me email their distributor named Redington who are also the same people that they outsource their on site support technicians and spare parts to. Redington then sent me a quotation followed by a payment link and it was all done online.

It's been 6 days since I initiated the refund process and I've yet to receive the amount back. PayPal says Xotic have issued an e-check (have no clue what it means) to PayPal but the amount is still held by the merchant's bank. How does this work guys? Any advices appreciated.
PayPal says I need to talk to Xotic about it but they're yet to respond to my emails for 3 days. I've no idea what to do now.

An eCheck comes out of the merchant's account, but usually takes 3 business days (not counting Saturday, Sunday and Holidays) to clear to PayPal.

Since the last two days don't count, you may find it in your PayPal account by tomorrow, assuming your merchant processed the eCheck on or before Wednesday of last week.

Thanks Donald, I'll give it another 2-3 days before contacting them again.
And I'll be in touch with you via email. Will place the order as soon as the funds shows up in my account.

So I got my Area 51m (FINALLY) from XoticPC, last May 7. The turn around is quite fast from Phase 2 (area 51m arriving at xoticpc) to shipment, it's around 2 days. There was just an additional delay because of local delivery errs.

The thing arrived with the touchpad and tron lights not working similar to what the Youtuber GizmoTech received:

I think his was from Hidevolution but mine arrived with the same issues. Tried fixing it and found out that I can turn "ON" the touchpad lighting thru BIOS (instead of Auto) or I can reinstall AW Pointing Device drivers to fix that.

For the tron lights, there was no mention on how he fixed it except the fact that he reformat the SSD / wiped it clean (which may have been done after upgrading his SSD and Processor).

For mine, I did reformat and tried to reinstall all the drivers but I finally gave up and just opened up the thing to see any issues; the connector for the tron lights isn't plugged in at all into the motherboard. (This may have been the same thing for GizmoTech but I can't be sure [like, he plugged the Tron RGB LED contact into the motherboard during the process]).

Now, all the hardware and lights are working properly, I tried TimeSpy and got a score of 10,017 and the max temps reached 78 C (9700K), 71 C (2080) using the default overclock profile 2 at AWCC (GPU/CPU was repasted with kryonaut, stock thermal pads).

I'm not planning on over abusing this laptop as I only play Rocket League and CS Go. Overall, I'm very happy with this thing.

On a side note: I didn't receive the RTX Triple Threat Games Redeem Code as the sales guy said its already out of stock, tobii's free the division 2 redeem code doesn't work for systems in my Region (middle east).

Props to XoticPC ( Support.2@XOTIC PC) for the packaging as the box arrived within a very big box full of huge bubble wraps. The best free packaging so far (compared to what I received from Hidevolution, GenTechPC and others.

Hopyfully, I won't have any problems with the mosfet's thing (there's a good breakthrough on knowing if you have a new one / or the old faulty prone one):

    So, props to that guy.

I just can't check mine right now as it requires disassembling the whole thing :D

Congrats on the new system. I gave up waiting on them and placed an order on Hidevolution instead. The triple threat bundle was awesome and would be saved you some money if you wanted to play those titles. Hidevolution confirmed that they'll send me the codes as soon as the system is delivered.
I live in Dubai as well so does that mean I won't be receiving the Division 2 code? That would suck as I had planned on playing the game.
Did you pay any taxes in your home country when you received the system? Are you from UAE by any chance?

Yes, I really wish I got that treat. Anyway, check: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/campaigns/rtx-triple-threat-bundle/terms-conditions/ - it's written that the codes should be redeemed by May 2. (I'm not sure if it was extended or something). I actually received The Division 2 code from the Tobii App but when I was claiming it in uPlay (not working in Epic Games or in Steam Store - [as the Div 2 is not available]). The Ubisoft launcher informed me that the code does not work in my Region. RN I'm in Qatar and there's no tax here :). I'm thinking since my consoles XB1 and N.Switch are both on U.S. region, maybe I'll try and redeem it for those if it'll work.

Damn. My system won't reach me until 24th May so I think I'm out of luck as well here.
I hope Divison 2 works out but now I'm not too sure.
