Left my laptop on overnight and woke up to a hot keyboard and loud fan noise. I put it in balanced mode before I slept. Is this common?

Hot keyboard would indicate something is taxing the GPU and CPU, I would dig a little deeper. Its not the power mode. High fan noise and hot would mean the fans are on to cool the system and not a glitch.

Sorry late reply I managed to fix it! It was a stupid mining malware that was eating at my CPU. Cleaned it and haven't had a problem since. Thank you and take care all!

How did it get in the first place? Invest in 3rd party AV with Internet security or similar to protect you from malwares.

Not sure TBH probably something I download although the laptop is pretty clean. I just bought malwarebytes hopefully shouldn't have this problem again.

Try a LiveCD AV like Kaspersky rescue disk or Dr Web Live CD
