Man I'm in the same boat here but I've got the 980m. I play DayZ and am getting horrible FPS. I understand that game isn't optimized yet but my Alienware X51 desktop has a GTX 555 in it and runs pretty dang good when using "Optimal Settings" on the NVidia Experience app. It has it running 1920x1080 and medium settings or so which runs well and looks great. Clicking on "Optimal Settings" on the Alienware 17 with the 980 and it's telling me I should run 1600x900 and most things on LOW or OFF. I'm incredibly confused as this 980 should be running this stuff on high for the most part I thought. I received this laptop yesterday and it came with the 180w PS but I immediately called and complained an the 240w PS came in the mail today so that's what I'm running.

I have a strange feeling it's trying to run on the integrated 4600, when running dxdiag it only shows the integrated graphics but the control panel I have it setup with DayZ.exe to run the high performance NVidia processor. Also initially when I installed the NVidia Experience program it found NO NVidia graphics cards, not until I installed a BETA version of that program did it see a 980.

What am I doing wrong here?

If I'm not mistaken, I think it's unchecked. I assumed that would make it use the same graphics settings all the time. Is your box unchecked as well?

If you wanna talk DayZ shoot me a PM... I have 520 hours into the game and am running it on my new 980m as well. We can compare numbers. Keep in mind this game hurts your CPU more than GPU.

If I knew how to PM on here I would. :) I have 2776 hours put into DayZ so I'd consider myself a veteran. I've had many personal built gaming machines as well as an X51 desktop that seems to run circles around this 980m when it only has a GTX555? I also have an XPS17 which has a GTS550 and I overclock it and it seems to run decent. Am I expecting too much out of this system?

You can send me a message on Steam if you'd like: It's Sid3ways on there.

You need 5 posts to PM and no one has posted up any graphs showing gpu/cpu behaviour during game play. If you don't post it up you are likely to miss something that others will spot to as what is going on.

Well I've just run through a 5 minute session of DayZ and this is what MSI Afterburner showed during this time. It has never displayed correctly, it doesn't show base values, just +0 for everything. It also shows while playing the GPU usages shows very minimal while running.

Another reference, here I am running the Unigine benchmark. Clearly there are differences.
