Any thoughts on how the OLED will compare in terms of brightness? I don't particularly care about refresh rate. UHD is fine but not necessary.

We have been getting some Lenovo laptops at work with both 4k and FHD screens and the 4k version is noticeably brighter.

Per this from Dell, both the FHD and UHD screens are 300 nits.

But they don't distinguish between the 60, 144, 240hz panel types.

Per this PR release, the UHD should get up to 400-500 nits. But maybe those panels aren't shipping yet.

This batch of 250-300 nit screens that the industry has kind of settled on kind of sucks imho.

Does anyone know whether OLED panels might have backpanel light bleed? I am not sure if I need to get 100$ option for best available panel from HID.

You don’t have to waste 100 dollars for best available panel option from HID. OLED panels will not have backlight bleed.
