    Hi Guys,

I am new to this community.

I am also new with Alienware and I got the last day my Alienware 17 R2 (Early 2015). I haven’t yet switched the computer on, in the box I only got a USB key 8GB Dell mentor media, I don’t know what is on this, I am used to CD Drivers rather than USB’s.

As any computer that I get new I always do a fresh installation from the start, to remove everything that I don’t want that dell already have installed on the computer. I don’t know if I will need to do the same in this case with my Alienware.

Does anyone know if I need to do a fresh installation with my Alienware 17 R2?

Also can someone point me to a place where I can find all the drivers for the machine? Just in case I decide to do a fresh install, I want to have all the drivers with me before I am going through that process.

I will really appreciate your support,

    Cheers

    Hi Maximus,

Thank you very much for those helpful links,

I have another question but I don't know if you are going to be able to help me with this, it is about the power adapter on the 17R2, when I order my 17R2 I didn't see or notice a place where you could selected the power adapter, (180w or 240w) the only option I have was 180W.

When I plug the power adapter to the 17R2 the adapter seem to be working and charging fine, no problems at all, but I don't know if it is the right one. I have read in another place that people are having issues with the wrong adapter.

    Cheers

The issues with adapters are with the 980m and throttling issues under heavy load, if you have the 980m email [email protected] with your

    order number
    service tag
    name
    address

then nicely request they send you a 220w, they are helpfull had mine delivered withing 3 days
