I'm beginning to think about returning my botched AW15 R2 build and upgrading to Clevo. Could people please share their returns experiences? Timeframes to refund (I hear 2 months)? Restocking fees? Unfair damage claims etc?

    Thanks a lot

Ordered 8GB 980M, received the 4GB version. See the gory details of that mess in the 980m 8GB thread.

I did this with my r2, bought in August. USA customers have a 30 day satisfaction period. I had tried in good faith to get the power issues fixed, but on day 28 it still wasn't running right (heat+throttling), and I simply wasn't going to stick with a computer that wasn't running right. So I called Dell customer service and sat on hold for about half an hour and then explained that I wasn't satisfied and wished to return the computer for a refund.

The CS agent offered me very small cash refunds to keep the machine (I would have accepted a big one), but I stood pat. After an extended period of fiddling on his end he read me a short script that explained the process (fairly straightforward) and said I could expect the credit back to my card in about 30 days total.

My return was in good shape with all parts included. There were plenty of sticky patches of sprayed beer or whatnot but I'm guessing Dell's used to that sort of thing. There were no retocking fees nor any discussion of fees at any point in the process.

It turns out I got my refund on the day my return hit their shipping dock. I turned around and spent the money on an r3, which I am very happy with overall, in spite of Dell's miserable QC and chaotic CS.

MY OPINION: The OP really ought to consider whether his current computer is a problem or just an amazingly frustrating experience, something Dell seems to excel at. Because if the computer's working now but just doesn't have the feature he wanted, and if they refund him for the missing feature, maybe he's money ahead over trying again with a new comppany and new issues?

Thank you for this encouraging recount and your thoughts. By choosing Dell, I was really hoping to avoid frustration and waste of time - hence the huge dissapointment.

BTW All things considered so far, i.e. going by the feedback on this forum as well as the reviews, Clevo/Schenker P506 and the particular reseller mysn.co.uk appear to blow Dell AW15 out of the water in most aspects...
