Does anyone know if the onboard Bluetooth can with used instead of using a dongle for connecting a wireless keyboard & mouse? I'm going to be away for a few months for training and I'm hoping I can travel lite and minimal.. a USB hub is an option I'd like to avoid.

Just got myself an aukey usbc to usb female adapter for like 3-5usd over at amazon. I think the onboard bluetooth will work with your wireless kb+mouse. I am using my onboard bluetooth for my xbox wireless controller + bluetooth earphones and totally works fine! :)

Which keyboard and mouse combo are you talking about? Is it Razer or Logitech?
Try installing Win 7 BT drivers and see if you can connect the keyboard and mouse.

If the keyboard and mouse support Bluetooth then yes it will work. If your trying to use a wireless keyboard and mouse designed to use the dongle and instead use Bluetooth then no that will not work. You can pick up a USB-C to USB hub for fairly cheap on Amazon and that will give you 4+ more USB ports.

Apparently it is all keyboards and mice that won't work.. And this is coming from Dell. I've never seen keyboard and mouse that don't come with a dongle.. Especially for a traveller.

I was really hoping to avoid the hub ;(

Take what Dell tells you over the phone with a grain of salt....I am surprised some of them can figure out how to put their pants on in the morning. I seriously doubt that a Bluetooth mouse/keyboard just won't work. If you have Bluetooth then it should work just fine.

Yes M-R, you'd hope they'd have a good comprehension due to the system having limited ports. Might just have to give it a try

I can use my Bluetooth Bose Soundlink no problem so I don't see why a KB ad or Mouse would be any different.

That's built with the intention of being detected by other Bluetooth devices, most if not all keyboards and mice come with a dongle. I just assumed AW due to lack of usb ports worth be able to, or even provide devices to support it.

Eeehm, I just bought a Logitech G603 for exactly this reason and the Bluetooth mode works just fine. If you want to game though I’d suggest you use the wireless usb receiver to reduce latency. I just use a USB hub to plug in all my peripherals at my desk. Actually much easier to only plug in one port instead of 4 ports.

Thanks Drinky, this was the kind of answer I needed. actually it got me thinking as one wireless receiver could serve 2-3 devices when mobile. I'm trying to avoid unplugging replugging devices.

I have the amplifier when desk side, it's just like a docking station, wouldn't change it for anything. Well worth it, and a fare few available used. I use a gtx970 and runs great.
