Hello, since I bought the laptop I had the pixelation issue with the old display and the new one , for me its way more irritating than the horizontal lines so is there any QHD display without the pixelation effect ? Coz I dont want to downgrade for FHD coz I like the clarity of QHD... by pixelation I mean when u watch the sky in overwatch u will notice lines huge ones or when u watch a dark scene u will notice too many pixels like they dont belong to the movie.

That's the game, not the display. Your either running the wrong resolution or have your graphics turned down to much. As for movies, that happens on low end encodes. Again this is nothing to do with hardware if I understand your problem right.

It shows in every single movie and every game that has a dark scene this problem shows I cant be the only one who has this issue coz my friend too has it and many ppl said they dont have it perhaps they r blind coz u cannot unsee this.

Its the display dude or the laptop I really dont know which , the weird thing is that I had an issue with the LED light the line on the right side of the screen it has black spots so I reported it to Dell and they ordered a new back cover and they replaced it infront of me and that issue wasnt fixed its like they never replaced it how is that possible ?

That looks like a crappy encode on a high contrast screen. Just from the pictures I see and it will get even more noticeable the higher you go in resolution.

My QHD looks awesome on high Bluray rips ill look closer when I get home on my laptop vs my phone. Dont know what resolution you are used to but if its below QHD or 1440p thats why you see it now vs before. Same goes with games if you dont change it up to 1440p it will look pixelated / blurry.

    Just my thoughts.

Hook it up to an external display to rule out the laptop's own display. Also video isn't a reliable test. There's compression and also in all likelihood your video file probably isn't exactly 1440p.

Use a game at native resolutions played live. Even recordings of games at very high bitrates look inferior to the original gameplay.

Make sure that display is 1440p / QHD min also otherwise it will not show acurate test results

I played rise of the tomb raider and when I enter a cave hence a dark scene , the pixelated effect shows.

Sorry for the delay, I had to wait until I flew into home today to get access to my computer to show you what im talking about. Again, I honestly don't think you are used to a 1440p Monitor and the amount of pixels it is, so I have some examples.

As for the pixelation in game, two things could be happening here. You might not be running the game at native resolution which is 2560x1440 or you are in a cut scene. Most cut scenes have to be stretched up to 1440p + and will cause pixelation.

TBH, I think your issue is not the computer, but mainly a really bright screen against a bad encode stretched up to 1440p.

We could go rounds and rounds about this all day, but ill stop here. I have gave ya what input i could and hope it helps. Welcome to a QHD (2560x1440) TN @ 400-nits Brightness. Your going to notice crappy encodes among other things. Just a FYI it would be even worse at UHD which is 3840 x 2160.

These pics are all off of my QHD 17 R4 at home. Should be exact same display Alienware now ships out.

This one is Crappy Encode, with a crappy decoder. Notice all the pixelation.
    Crappy 1.jpg

This is a decent encode played on a crappy decoder (top one) Then the same encode played on a decent decoder (Bottom one)
    Crappy 2.jpg

And this one is on a 1080p Encode played on a decent decoder. Still minor pixelation as its 1080p and being stretched up to 1440p

I would of added this with the other post but was not sure if the download would be finished before I headed to bed. So here it is.

This is a purchased movie using a good decoder downloaded from a retail site. Huge diff from all the rest, even with the JPEG compression for the forum.

That's cool but can you show the screenshots of the game? You've posted many many screenshots of 1 movie and that's only 1 data set that we're telling you isn't reliable.

No need to get hostile. I think it's well established movies aren't a good test. A screenshot of a single game at 1440p will help us more clearly understand the issue. Yea I don't watch enough movies to tell the difference between the screens you showed but you can show a million movies at this point and we'd still not get further in understanding.

Your movies probably aren't 1440p and all will be subject to the mercy of the scaler.

Do both game and external monitor test you'll be able to answer many of your own questions once you try that.

Not to sound rude so please dont take it as such, but those lines you see could simply be the skybox. I dont have time until Wednesday to sit down and play but I would be more then happy to then. I will say when I have played I have not noticed anything looking out of place, but normally im to busy fragging people to notice. Ill check tho as soon as I got some time. :)

I had this same issue with my Precision 7710. Mine was an issue with the intel GPU. If you disable switchable graphics in the BIOS, I bet the issue goes away. Try to uninstall your intel GPU driver using Display Driver Uninstaller, and then install the latest version of the intel driver from Dell's website. That fixed it for me. You also have to make sure that if you have an option for "gamut" in the intel control panel it is turned all the way up toward vivid rather than natural.
