I noticed that normal clock speed of i7 7700hq of my laptop should be 3.8Ghz when turbo boost to the max , but all I noticed that it only reached 3.4Ghz , sometimes 3.5.

The temperature is okay though, around 64-66 Celcius degree when full load. And I think dell throttle the cpu somehow.
Does anyone have the same issue ? Thanks.

It's 3.8 GHz on 1 core, 3.7 GHz on 2 cores, 3.6 on 3 and can run all cores on 3.5 GHz. That's how it's supposed to go

Download Intel XTU, you may be able to set all core turbo to 3.6Ghz?

Thanks, but I think that option you mentioned above is not available for 7700HQ

Oh , thanks for explain. Well, in that case, I did reached 3.6 GHz on all core. Is that possible ? Although I didn't OC my CPU, except undervolting it.

Yea I'm pretty sure the 7700HQ can run 3.6Ghz on each core. But yea, its locked down.

If you want to do some heavy overclocking, for high FPS gaming, your going to need a i7 6820HK, or i7 7820HK, or a i9 8950HK. And in that case a NEW laptop. Or possibly a different motherboard to go in yours;if it fits of course.

If its unlocked, laptop CPU's can definitely be overclocked heavily!

That's what I wanted to hear lol

Yeah, maybe a bios unlocked firmware can do that? I've heard about that before. But anyway, I'll wait till intel i9 K 10th gen and next "pascal" gpu gen.

Also, I don't think I can replace the 7700HQ 1070 mobo with 7820HK and 1080 because it's completely depend on fan heatsink and power adapter. A little gain on performance is not much worth it xD

It's valid to use the cpu 7820HK at @41 with core volt offset -0.1000?
