I have alienware 17r2. I am dealing with a strange issue.

The laptop charges for a few minutes and goes to battery. I get the message for maximum performance please connect to AC power. If I remove the power cable and attach it again, it starts to charge. But in a few minutes, it gives the same message..it goes to battery power. I have tried two different adapters and tried it on windows 8, windows 7 and windows 10 to rule out some OS update. Is this a hardware issue?

I am on Bios A00. I don't wanna update the bios with the issue since it might go to battery anytime.

Check the internal DC cable next to the battery cable if it is burned, if it is burned it needs to be replaced as @judal57 says. If not then you need to clear the cmos/nvram.

It can be 2 things, if it is at set intervals and the cable is not burned, then it is a bios error and the cmos needs to be cleared. But I dont know which jumper is for clearing the cmos in the R2.

    Thank you guys.

I checked the DC cable. It is not burnt.

I reseated the battery and changed from express charge to standard charge in the bios. The problem seems to have gone for now.
