    Alienware 17R4 system lockup help?

    Hi I seem to have a issue with my R4 that im not sure where to start looking. When i was playing Diablo 3 the system totally froze up and the sound was making a buzzing noise. First time i thought it was just a fluke as i know windows sometimes freaks out and acts crazy, but the 2nd time with in a 30 minute window, now i know something is going on. Can anyone maybe point me in the direction to start looking? I took a short video of the issue, hope the link works. I forgot to add my system is the i7-7700 with the 1070.

    Is it happening in any other games? or Just Diablo?

    I would start by removing all GPU drivers and re-installing a fresh copy and see if that helps at all.

    Run the diagnostics and see if that turns up anything , but most likely not.

    Typically I find these types of issues are caused by bad drivers but it could be hardware related. If it happens again leave it for a few minutes and see if it eventually blue screens and use the error code that it pops up with ( if it does eventually BSOD ). I am fighting with ARK on mine which will do a very similar thing, but it will BSOD out after a minute. Only happens in ARK and it's happening to lots of people, so probably just an ARK problem in my case.

    Ultimately you may even want to reinstall Windows to rule out software all together.

    yes, it was only happening on diablo on that machine. My r3 hasent had any issues playing anything. I will use DDU tonight and reinstall the drivers and see if that helps. I hope i wont have to redo windows, I hate doing that.
