Hi guys, this is my first post in this Forum, im from Perú, then my english is not good enough or very bad 8/

Well, im going direct to the point, i bought an AW with i7 7820HK and GTX 1080, my cpu temps are very normal, max 50 gaming in @41 MHZ for example overwatch in full HD in HIGH graphics settings with vsync, but the problem is with the GPU, 90 in the same game and i have some lag spikes, freezing images but no BSOD or pc reset, also i have some lag spikes or freezing images (thermal throttling?) playing quake champions too.

But is strange because i play dota 2 in QHD in the max graphic settings and no GPU overheat or problems, the same in Mortal Kombat XL, in diablo 3 in QHD yesterday i got 90°C with no lag spikes or thermal throttling, but i understand is an old game.

Also i tried to use the MSI afterburner and play with the voltage, scoring better results in some games, but my worry is about overwatch, i got an AW with GTX 970 in the past and 0 problems.

    What i have to do?
Repaste is not an option in my country because there are not people that do this, also i talked with the dell support and they told me that 90 °C is a normal temperature.

    Thanks for your time.

    Cheers from Perú

Your 1080 GPU is throttling. Try undervolting the GPU in Afterburner. Will drop your GPU clock but the lower voltage can drop temps as well.

Hi and thanks for answering, i was increasing the core clock to +160 and the memory clock to +200 and no problems in dota 2 playing at QHD also, but in overwatch no as i said.

Then i have to put those again in 0, i meant the memory and core clock right?

Take a look at this tutorial from @Mr. Fox . If your 1080 stock voltage is too high, your GPU will thermal throttle. Recommend trying a voltage between .9mv and 1 volt. Lock your voltage to this value; adjust your voltage curve to the right of that voltage so that it has a lower clock. Your voltage will then max at the locked voltage.

BTW, when you say a voltage btween .9mV and 1 volt you meant i can use the voltage of the video to try right?

The voltages are going to vary based on how much undervolting you need to achieve the desired temperature. It also is a function of the chip quality in your card. Vary the voltage. Run a game or GPU intensive benchmark, and use HWinfo or the like to monitor your temperature. Remember locking your voltage at specific lower values will reduce your frequency. Find the right balance between frequency and GPU temperature.

    Hi, how are you?

    It's very weird what happened.

    Yesterday i did those things:

    1. Desactivate Nvidia G-SYNC
    2. Activated perfomance mode for my cpu in the bios, OC lvl 2 and when gaming i got good temps, max 55-60, overwatch, dota 2, Heroes of the storm.
3.Set my MSI Afterburner like this video in youtube, the same curve:

But as i said is kind of weird because the perfomance of Overwatch was good, good FPS and normal gaming with decent temps, but the problem now was DOTA 2, high temps like 85-90 (IN QHD) until configured to 1920x1080, then normal temps i got normal temps again like 68-70 in the GPU.

It has something to do if i OC the processor with the GPU temp is this case, why dota 2 get high temps when i OC the cpu and got low temps when i undervolt, that is my first question.

Then i don't now if a repaste it's neccesary because i dont have problems with the cpu temps, just with the GPU.

Now, my laptop, with GTX 1080 and i7 7820HK it's prepared to run overwatch for example in epic configuration or ultra settings in QHD?

At last, it's possible to undervolt my cpu with the intel xtreme utility just to -0.100 at the same time with the bios OC level 2 or i have to increase the voltage?

Thanks a lot for your patience and sorry again for my bad english.
