    Need some help/advice..

I attempted to install the latest 17R3 BIOS update available which was released August 16th, Version 1.3.12.

I downloaded it directly from dell's website link and saved it to my desktop. Closed all other running applications, then launched the BIOS update from the desktop. It did the usual thing, restarted the laptop then it gave me the following Error message: Rom Image is not loaded. Rom image update denied."Flash Update failed to initialize. Press any key to reset system."

I restarted the system again, loads into desktop just fine. I then deleted the originally downloaded BIOS update file from my desktop, and downloaded a new one. Saved it to a folder in the desktop, closed all running application, rightclicked on the BIOS file to launch it as an administrator... It launched fine, did it usual thing, shuts down and just hangs there forever, laptop running, screen black, fans blowing but it is not writing the new BIOS or giving any error messages this time. I waited a good 7 minutes, it just hangs there. I shut it down, repeated the process two more times with the same results. It just fails to install the BIOS update. What's causing this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Which BIOS version are you coming from? Have you tried flashing another version?

Coming from V 1.3.10, have not tried other versions. Win 10 Pro. Never had any issues with bios updates in the past with this machine. It is running perfectly.

I just meant perhaps try and flash a different version to see if any version at all takes or if you get a similar error on every one.

I fixed it.. The issue was my main Raid 0 OS drive was 95% full, I just recently came back from a 5 week vacation all over Europe and loaded the laptop with a bunch of huge files from my drone 4k @ 60FPS footage, and my photo files were all RAW 50MB per photo files... Didn’t realize I had over 750GB of data, did a wedding photo shoot right after vacation as well. Offloaded a lot of it to my iPad Pro and external drive for editing-no need to keep all of it on this machine. Freeing up the space made everything work, I think the downloaded file was getting corrupt due to the drive being so full. BIOS installed fine after the cleanup. Now to make time to edit all of these files smh. That’s gonna take a few weeks lol.

I downloaded the same driver from Dell and run it. My 17R3 restarted but stopped when power backed on (dark screen and didn't go to BIOS). Can anyone help me?

i had same issues, it doesnt start, if u tried to update from windows this could happen, may be u had bad temp file which bios creates, Amifld.sys or something like that.. only way is to use CLR pin method to clear CMOS, then it will take few seconds, first boot up of CLEAR cmos will have three reboots. 2 without display being on.. and One with Display On.. if Clear CMOS dint work.. do a power drain..
