So I was using Bluetooth to transfer some images from my windows phone to laptop, then suddenly, the connection was dropped, Bluetooth disappeared completely from the machine. I checked Device Manager, ran Windows Update, Windows trouble shooter, reinstall Bluetooth driver, but nothing seemed to work. I even booted to Linux Mint which recognized Bluetooth 3 days ago, but now, it couldn't detect the Bluetooth adapter anymore.

I suspect the adapter somehow died while running. Is there any other ways to check what happened?

Try troubleshooting packs in control panel. Open control panel, type troubleshoot in the search bar and run hardware troubleshooters to resolve the issue. Otherwise try reinstalling the driver suite.

Troubleshooting packs should've done the trick, you know. Have you tried manually updating the driver using inf files?

Pretty blatant hardware issue since it doesn't work in Linux either.

Pop off the back case and reseat the card. Regardless if it's an Intel or Killer Wireless card, bluetooth and Wifi are on the same card. If that doesn't fix it, try another card or call for warranty.
