    Hi Everyone,

I have received my alienware 17 r4 and it is great in many ways, but the FHD screen leaves a lot to be desired. HWInfo tells me that it is an AUO screen and that it is TN! is this right? surely it should have an IPS screen as per the specs?

Please let me know what screens are in yours, as I may change mine to get a different one if there are multiple FHD screen parts used in these laptops

Many thanks in advance for any help you can give,

    Terada

Any thoughts? Just posting which panel you have would be super helpful.

Just received my AW17R4, went for FHD IPS, but got the AUO panel, which the internet tells me is TN..?!

terada, did you stick with yours or get it replaced..? (and is it really a TN?)

Are you sure..? AUO's website only mentions AHVA for 17.3" FHD mobile displays (which is their version of IPS)...

Looking at the (lack of) colour distortion at extreme viewing angles, there's no way it's a TN...
There's a ton of IPS 'glow' though...
