    i have an Alienware 17 currently with a pm951 and a 1tb hdd.
I was wondering what the upgrade options are for this, I think the laptop has 2 m2 ports, so if I bought another ssd of the right type is it a case of just adding that and then I'd have 3 drives?mis this the maximum possible?

Is there a difference between the 2 ports? I read something about 1 is 4x and the other is 2x but not totally sure what that means

So, is this drive the right one? http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01639694M

If I understand the reviews properly, this drive would be a bit faster to read from and significantly faster to write? Will it come with the screw needed to fit, or is this something else to buy?

I also wondered about cooling, there are many cooling pads on Amazon but do they make that much difference to reduce the fans on the laptop or does the extra fans of the pad just end up being as noisy anyway?

    Thanks in advance

    It can hold 2 M.2 and 1 SATA3 drive

    M.2 Port 1 is 4X the 2nd port is 2X.

The drive you linked will work fine. Put it in slot one, move your 951 to slot 2 and you will be all set.

I have a cooling pad with 2 fans. I hear them running all the time, quietly. I never hear the laptops fans unless I game.

That's great, thank you. I found I had a Zalman NC-2000 cooling pad from an earlier laptop. Not sure if it will prove suitable but can try :)
