when I try to power on my Alienware 17 r3 it seems to stall on the first boot. Powering off then on again does allow the boot

I am Windows 10 and bios 1.2.8 and have replaced my main drive with a Samsung 950 pro (which isn't seen in the bios very often)

Is this something others have seen?

Maybe 1.2.8 is the issue? I'll probably go back to 1.2.3. The fixes in the later bios doesn't really affect many people.

Yeah the latest bios is pretty crap. I have disappearing drives during a restart sometimes and a bcd error.

How can you rollback when the bios doesn't seem to be on dells servers? Is there an area I haven't found yet?

    See here - http://downloads.dell.com/published/pages/alienware-15-r2.html

Ps: the bios is the same for both the AW17 R3 and the AW15 R2 as they share the same motherboard.

I'm experiencing a similar issue with Samsung Pro 512 on AW15 R2. Started failing to boot/wake up - there is no progress circle. Restarts stopped helping. The system passes all diagnostics. Dell Recovery and Restore didn't find any repairable issues. Any ideas?

Go higher. lower bios versions are ruining DC in cable (burning) within the laptop.

Are you dual booting Windows and Linux?
I had this issue and basically you need to remove one drive whilst installing an OS. I use one disk for W10 and another for Xubuntu 16.0.4 LTS.
