    Hello!

This is one of the most obnoxious problems I have ever had with a computer.... In the past I found a registry fix that worked when I was on windows 8. Haven't been able to find that fix again.

    The screen keeps dimming....

I have turned off the display power saving technology on battery (though this is happening when plugged in)

I have gone through advanced power options and turned off adaptive brightness.

essentially if you do a web search and do the standard windows 10 and intel graphics driver stuff... I have done it. I have been searching high and low for a real solution to this.

Is there a real fix for this that actually works?

ummmmmmmm... and who thought it was a good idea to dim the display when there is a darker image on the screen and then increase its brightness when there is a lighter image.

Its a pretty standard Alienware 17 r3 with the GTX970.

All drivers and bios updated very recently.

This is annoying enough that I almost can't stand to use the machine until its solved and am reverting to my old computer.

    Thank you very much!!

Sounds like the display power saving setting is enabled.

Go to the intel control panel - power - battery and disable the display power saving technology.
    This should fix it.

edit. Sorry - should of read your post more thoroughly you have already tried this.

i had this issue on my alienware 15 R1, for me i had to revert back to stock windows intel driver, which fixed the issue.. and creating a custom profile using alienware fusion with admin rights..

Try DDU and get rid of new intel drivers and try older version..
